Got word from a reader today that a sculpture made in honor of a donation from the Choctaw Nation to the people of Ireland in 1847 has been finished and is now on display in Bailic Park in Middleton, a small town of 12,000 not far from Ireland’s southern coast in County Cork. Here is what the finished monument looks like: WebThe large stainless steel outdoor sculpture in Bailick Park is titled “Kindred Spirits”. It commemorates the donation by the Native American Choctaw People to Irish famine relief in 1847 during the Great Hunger Link , despite the Choctaw themselves living in hardship and poverty and having recently endured the Trail of Tears Link .
